Syed M. Harun earned his Bachelor and Masters Degree in Economics from University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. He finished his M.A. in Economics and Ph.D. in Financial Economics from the University of New Orleans. He taught at the University of New Orleans and at Texas A&M University-Kingsville before moving to the Texas A&M University –San Antonio where he is Professor of Finance at the College of Business. His teaching interests are corporate finance and investments at both undergraduate and graduate levels. He was the Chair of the Department of Economics and Finance at Texas A&M University-Kingsville from 2005-2008 and currently serving as the Chair of the Department of Accounting and Finance at Texas A&M University-San Antonio since 2010.
Syed M. Harun has a very wide research interest and has active research projects in monetary policy and financial markets, personal finance and financial literacy, stock market anomalies and behavioral finance. His research has appeared in International Journal of Business and Economics Perspective, International Journal of Business, Accounting, and Finance, Southwest Teaching and Learning Journal, The International Journal of Finance, Multinational Finance Journal, Global Journal of Finance and Economics. He is active in professional organizations; he has served on program committee of Southwestern Finance Association, Academy of Financial Services, Academy of International Business-Southwest Chapter.
