Professional Profile

Courtney recently joined Texas A&M University-San Antonio department of Communications in the fall of 2018. Prior to her appointment at the university, she was a full time communications faculty member, the JCC Live Student TV program advisor and the Jag Crew Spirit Program Coordinator at Johnston Community College in Smithfield, North Carolina from 2013 to 2018.

Courtney earned her Master of Arts at the University of North Texas in 2008 with a focus in interpersonal communication. During her graduate coursework and teaching assistant position, she taught core speech course recitations as well as being an active member of COGS (Communication Organization of Graduate Students), a student-run organization of graduate students in the Department of Communication Studies (communication.unt.edu, 2019). Upon graduating from the university, Courtney earned teaching positions across the DFW area at several local community colleges and Texas Women's University. Later on in her teaching career, Courtney earned the title of digital online and interactive telecommunications instructor for speech communications at Alabama A & M University and Bladen Community College. Whether teaching in the classroom or in online format, Courtney has always embraced that communications in any format has value to one's self-efficacy as well as to the community in which we hope to empower.

Personal

Courtney is thrilled to call Texas home again after being away in North Carolina for five years due to her husband's military career. Although she is a native to the Dallas/Fort Worth area, San Antonio is now her forever home that she shares with her husband, their four children and a pet fish named Guy II.

Currently in her spare time, Courtney has become the advisor and coach of the Texas A&M University-San Antonio Jaguarettes Dance team. She is continuing her love of dance and school spirit and hopes that the team can build a legacy. A legacy that encapsulates the unique traditions of the college while being the forefront of school pride. Viva Viva A&M-SA! If you are interested in being a part of the team, please review the teams page under JagSync.
