Myrna Garza is a Coordinator for the Office of First-Year Experience. In this role, she manages the Common Experience and Faculty Advising programs. This semester, she is also teaching a section of First-Year Seminar. Before coming to Texas A&M University-San Antonio, she was a Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging Fellow at the Harvard John A. Paulson School of Engineering and Applied Science and an Admissions Coordinator at Cristo Rey Jesuit College Preparatory School of Houston. She has a Master of Education in Higher Education from the Harvard Graduate School of Education and a B.A. in Economics and Spanish from Rice University. Her professional interests lie in supporting underrepresented students in their college journeys and creating equitable higher educational spaces. She grew up on both sides of the border, going to school in the Rio Grande Valley but spending most of her weekends and breaks in her parents' hometowns in northeast Mexico.
