Alysha K. Mendez earned her Ed.D. from Concordia University in North Austin, with an emphasis in Curriculum and Instruction. During the COVID-19 Pandemic, she completed her study and dissertation on teacher mental health. Prior to earning her doctorate, Dr. Mendez graduated from Texas State University with a BA in English and a BA in Mass Communication. She began teaching through Teach for America in Aiea, Hawaii, and during her time in Oahu, she graduated with a Masters in Education from University of Hawaii. She then moved back to Texas and continued teaching middle school and high school English in Del Valle, Hays, and Austin. Dr. Mendez now shares her passion through teaching future teachers; she teaches undergraduate courses in teacher preparation and literacy education.
