Dr. Alexandria Castillo received her BA in History from Texas A&M University in College Station in 2010, and her MA (2014) and PhD (2017) in Latin American History from the University of Houston. She teaches courses on the United States and Mexico, as well as Intro to Women & Gender Studies. Her research focuses on the relationship between race, gender, and religion in colonial Mexico, examining points of contact between Catholic clergy and non-white parishioners such as Inquisition cases, priest evangelization manuals, and spiritual biographies, or hagiographies.
