Dr. Yang earned her M.S and Ph.D. degrees in Computer Science and Software Engineering from Auburn University. Her current research is focused on three areas: 1) Software Supply Chain Security with a focus on SolarWinds breaches – Utilizing a static analysis framework with source code clone detection techniques and a framework to secure the software supply chain, 2) Static and Dynamic Program Analysis with data flow analysis to detect and visualize security leaks from source to destination within a program, and 3) Development of Cyber Security Modules with their implementations and evaluations. She collaborates with her colleague on the research of developing predictive user behavior pattern models and algorithms. Her research also focuses on computing and cybersecurity education including the participation of women. The research has been supported by the grants awarded from NSF, NSA, and A&M-SA’s Initiative seed fund, and her current research projects include: 1) NSF grant project entitled “CISE-MSI: RCBP-RF: S&CC: Building a Smart Mobility Network for the San Antonio Transit to Improve Transit Service and Social Impact (SmartSAT)"  2) NSF grant project entitled “Recruiting and Retaining Students into Computing” with Cyber Security Module implementations and evaluations. She is the recipient of Facebook Cybersecurity Academic Scholarships and A&M-SA’s Distinguished Faculty Award for Scholarly, Research, or Artistic Achievement.
