Internship Description

America’s Packard Museum is currently seeking Interns in the following departments:

• Archives
• Library
• Small Object Collections

Interns will assist with the inventory, cataloging, organization, and processing of archival, library, or collections materials within their assigned department. Familiarity with TinyCat for library collections and CatalogIt for collections and archives is desired but not necessary. Specific projects and assignments will be determined based on departmental needs, as well as the Intern’s interests, skills, and experience.

All Interns will also assist Museum staff and volunteers at the front desk as a docent a minimum of twice per month. Docent responsibilities include greeting visitors, assisting guests, answering questions, and supporting the Museum’s public engagement efforts.

Interns are expected to follow best practices and professional standards for the preservation and care of museum materials and to remain informed about emerging technologies, trends, and practices in the museum field. Interns report to the Archivist/Registrar and Curator and work collaboratively with other members of the Museum team.

Dates: Internship start and end dates will be determined collaboratively between the supervisor and the Intern based on availability and program needs.

Hours: Normally 9:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m., Tuesday through Friday, with some evening or weekend opportunities as needed. Interns are expected to commit to a minimum of one full day per week. Some flex-time is available based on scheduling and project needs.

Compensation: This position is unpaid and does not provide wages, stipends, or employee benefits.
