Internship Description

Badcat.fm Seeks Summer InternUnpaid, unusually fun, and possibly career-altering for the right kind of creature

Badcat.fm is looking for a summer intern.

We're an in-person dance party, a YouTube channel, and a growing little mischief machine dedicated to good music, better rooms, and nights that feel like they might become stories later.

We throw private dance parties. We publish DJ sets online. We're building something that lives somewhere between underground party, music media project, and extroverted alley cat.

We're growing faster than our paws can type, so we’re looking for a curious, ambitious, music-loving intern to help us take Badcat.fm to the next level this summer.

Let’s get the obvious thing out of the way first: this is unpaid. We know. We just don't have the budget to pay for this role. What we can offer is real experience, direct mentorship, meaningful creative work, and a front-row seat to building a music and events brand from the inside.

This is best for someone who is early in their career, hungry to learn, excited about music and nightlife, and looking for hands-on experience in marketing, content, events, and audience growth.

What you’ll help withDepending on your interests and strengths, you may help us with:

• YouTube channel growth: Helping us publish, package, improve, and grow our DJ sets online. This could include video cut-downs, shorts, thumbnails, titles, descriptions, channel strategy, and general “how do we make this thing purr louder?” thinking.
• Content creation: Finding moments inside longer sets, turning them into clips, helping us create short-form content, and spotting opportunities to make the channel more watchable, shareable, and alive.
• CRM and channel management: Helping us keep track of our people: guests, DJs, collaborators, regulars, friends of the cat, future friends of the cat, and people who should absolutely be invited to the next party.
• Marketing and growth: Helping with both classic growth marketing and guerrilla marketing. Think: audience-building, local buzz, smart experiments, party promotion, weird ideas, flyers, invites, partnerships, and “what if we tried this?” energy.
• Website development: Right now, we are using a Linktree-style setup. It works. It is not exactly the Taj Mahal of internet architecture. You may help us improve it, rebuild it, or figure out what a better Badcat.fm web presence should be.
• Guest experience at the parties: Helping us think through how to make the in-person experience better: arrival, flow, signage, vibe, hospitality, surprises, guest communication, and all the little details that make a room feel cared for.
What you’ll learnYou’ll receive coaching and mentorship from the Badcat.fm cofounder team.

One of us is an executive marketing leader with experience building brands, campaigns, communities, and growth systems for Fortune 100 companies, and the other is a solopreneur and successful graphic design business owner with deep experience in creative execution, client work, and visual identity.

You’ll learn how music projects grow in the real world. It's a messy, exciting, and occasionally chaotic reality of building something from scratch. This internship can help prepare you for entry-level work in: music marketing, event promotion, nightlife and live events, content creation, YouTube channel management, creative operations, community and audience growth.
Who this is probably right forYou might be a good fit if you:
• Love music, dance parties, DJs, nightlife, or creative communities
• Are organized enough to herd cats, or at least willing to try
• Like making things and experimenting
• Are comfortable learning new tools
• Can take an idea and turn it into a first draft, a spreadsheet, a post, a clip, or a plan
• Have good taste, or at least strong opinions you can defend
• Want real experience more than you want a fake title, but if you want a fake title, like "Director of Social Media" or "Events Director" or "CEO of Customer Experience" we can make that happen for you as well, depending on how we shape the internship!

Badcat.fm is looking for someone who wants to learn, make things, build something real, and maybe help a small music project sharpen its claws. Come make trouble with us.
You do not need to be an expert. You do need to be curious, reliable, communicative, and ready to learn.

Time commitmentWe’re imagining a flexible summer commitment of roughly 5–15 hours per week, depending on your gumption, initiative, and availability.

Some work can be done remotely. Some opportunities may involve attending or helping with in-person Badcat.fm events.

The more you put into this, the more you’ll get out of it. If you’re the kind of person who likes taking initiative, spotting opportunities, and saying “what if we tried this?”, there will be plenty of room to make your pawprint.
How to applySend a short note to meow@badcat.fm introducing yourself and telling us:
• Why an internship with Badcat.fm sounds right for you
• What kind of work you’d be most excited to help with
• Any relevant experience in the form of links to projects, playlists, videos, or strange little internet things you’ve made
• Your general availability this summer

No need to be overly formal. We're cats, not bankers.
