About the Job
CPC Summer Internship Program:
CPC is looking for summer interns to join the CPC team for the summer. CPC is an investment holding company that invests in private companies capable of generating returns over decades. The firm is building a perpetual talent base to execute CPC’s vision and create value for all stakeholders. If you are looking for a summer internship to grow personally and professionally, CPC could be the place for you. Summer interns will partner with an Associate to add value to live opportunities and existing portfolio companies.
CPC Overview:
CPC makes long-term investments and is organized as a company, not around funds like traditional Private Equity firms. This structure enables CPC to implement what it believes to be the best strategies to create defensible, long-term value―aligning the incentives of shareholders, management, and all stakeholders in CPC’s businesses. Sustainable competitive advantage derives from long-term investments in innovation, workforce development, the adoption of new technologies, and supply chain improvements.
CPC is owned by large family offices and successful entrepreneurs aligned around long-term decision-making and wealth creation. CPC was formed through the combination of Curran Companies’ and C3 Capital’s management teams. CPC seeks to invest $60MM to $120MM+ per company across 1–2 businesses per year. CPC does not use enterprise leverage to fund acquisitions, instead partnering with management teams to focus on what it calls the Five Key Battles™: People, Systems and Processes, Execution, Customer Intimacy, and Product Leadership. Prior to forming CPC, the management team invested in over 100 businesses across a wide range of industries.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Our 8-week program kicks off with a 5-day orientation designed to familiarize summer interns with CPC, its operating companies, the team, and relevant concepts that will be used throughout the internship.
• Develop detailed Excel analyses to support the investment decision process and continuous improvement.
• Work on a project with both the investment team and Excellence Group, which focuses on operating company continuous improvement and Five Key Battles™ support, and present the output to CPC leadership and operating company management (sponsorship platform project).
• Develop an in-depth working knowledge of relevant financial concepts and theory from a real-world perspective, bridging the gap between academic coursework and practice.
• Listen in and observe a board meeting with an existing operating company.
• Establish a foundation of knowledge and experience for future employment.
