Internship Description

Founders Office Intern (Part-Time, 20 to 30 hours a week)
We're building the largest physician-focused tax company in the country, and growing faster than anyone else in this space. This role sits inside the Founders Office, working directly with the COO on the problems that decide whether the firm wins: strategy, hiring, product, and the operating machinery underneath all of it.
The hours, first, because this is the part most people get wrong about this job.
This is 20 to 30 hours a week, every week, alongside your classes. Not a few hours when it suits your schedule. A real block of your week that we can count on and plan around, during the semester and through finals.
Within those hours, we expect you to be reachable. Things move fast here and a lot of them happen on weekends and at odd hours. If something lands on a Saturday and it's yours, you pick it up. Someone who disappears from Friday to Monday comes back too far behind to be useful, and this seat only works if you know what's going on.
We are not going to pretend this is a light commitment. It is a part-time schedule with a full-time standard on responsiveness. That's the trade for sitting next to the people running a company during the fastest stretch of its life and getting handed responsibility years before you'd get it anywhere else.
If reading that made you flinch, close the tab. No hard feelings, and we mean that. If it made you want the job more, keep reading.
What you'll do
This is not a role where you watch. You'll sit in the rooms where decisions get made, then own pieces of what comes out of them. One week that's building the model behind a pricing decision, the next it's running point on a search for a senior hire, the next it's turning a half-formed product idea into a spec someone can build. Real deadlines, real consequences, with someone experienced beside you and modern AI tooling at your back.
Strategy and analysis
• Build the analyses behind real decisions: pricing changes, new service lines, pod capacity, which states and specialties to push into next.
• Pull data out of our systems, clean it, and turn it into a one-pager the COO can decide from. Numbers first, narrative second.
• Research competitors, markets, and tax industry shifts, and tell us what actually matters instead of dumping links.
• Pressure-test plans before they ship. Find the assumption that breaks, and say so.
Recruiting
• Run searches end to end: write the post, source candidates, screen against our rubrics, schedule, keep the pipeline moving, and make sure no candidate is left hanging.
• Sit in on interviews, take structured notes, and build the debrief materials that drive the hire or no-hire call.
• Keep the recruiting board clean and the funnel numbers honest.
Product and internal tooling
• Turn dictated voice notes and whiteboard sessions into written specs, task lists, and process docs an engineer or ops person can execute against.
• Test what gets built. Find where it breaks, document it precisely, and chase the fix until it closes.
• Help design and roll out the AI and automation workflows the firm runs on.
Founders Office operations
• Prep leadership meetings: agenda, prior action items, the two or three numbers needed to run it.
• Capture action items out of leadership and pod meetings and chase them until they close, including with people more senior than you.
• Run special projects nobody owns yet: an offsite, a vendor evaluation, a fire that landed on the COO's desk this morning.
• Draft communications the COO sends under their own name. They should need edits, not rewrites.
Who this is for
The sharpest person in your class, and we mean that literally. Learns fast, works hard without being told twice, and is energized rather than drained by a heavy load. Three things we care about most:
Thinking. You can take an ambiguous question, structure it, do the work, and come back with a recommendation and the reasoning behind it. Not a summary of the problem. An answer.
Communication. You write clean, professional messages and documents people can act on without a rewrite. You follow up without being asked. You don't go quiet when something is stuck.
Ownership and discretion. You'll see strategy before it's announced, compensation, and personnel matters. That information does not leave your hands. When something is yours, it gets done or you raise your hand early. Nothing dies silently in your queue.
Be honest with yourself about the unglamorous half of it. Founders Office means you do whatever the firm needs, and some of that is scheduling, data cleanup, and chasing the same person for the same document three times. It still has to be right, because everything downstream depends on it. If work below your ego drains you, this is the wrong seat.
There are no SOPs for most of what you'll touch. You'll get loose instructions and be expected to figure out the rest. This is not for anyone who needs hand-holding or wants a comfortable lane.
One boundary on scope: you prepare the analysis and the options. Decisions carrying real legal or financial exposure belong to the COO and the founders. You will never be left holding those alone.
Compensation and the path
[Rate or range], paid hourly.
We'll be straight with you: measured against what we ask, it is not a big number, and we are not going to dress it up as one. What you're actually buying is the room and the reps. You'll spend your time here doing work most people don't touch until they're thirty, beside the person running the company while they do it.
This is a firm that is growing fast and promotes from the inside. Interns who do well in this seat are the first people we look at when a full-time role opens, including when you graduate. Earned, not given.
Requirements
• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program, graduating May 2027 or later. This is an internship, not a new grad role.
• Business, finance, accounting, economics, or a related major. Exceptional candidates from other fields will be considered.
• Minimum 3.5 GPA. We will verify.
• Can commit 20 to 30 hours a week, consistently, and be reachable on weekends and on short notice. This is your only job outside of school while you're here.
• Strong written communication. Be ready to show a writing sample or write something on the spot.
• Comfortable in spreadsheets, fast with new software, and already using AI tools in your own work.
• Discretion with confidential information, without needing to be reminded.
• Wants the pace described at the top of this post.
Fully remote.
We screen hard and very few applicants are selected. If you are the right person, that should make you want this more.
