Role Description Our remote Grant Writing Internship role offers hands-on experience in supporting EcoServants®’ mission through funding research and proposal development. Day-to-day responsibilities include researching grant opportunities, reviewing eligibility criteria, and organizing findings into clear summaries for the team. The intern will assist in drafting, editing, and tailoring grant proposals, including narratives, budgets, and supporting documentation aligned with program goals. The role also involves collaborating with staff to gather program data, impact metrics, and success stories, and maintaining a calendar of deadlines and submissions. This is an unpaid internship role designed to build practical grant writing skills while contributing to environmental projects and community initiatives.


Qualifications
• Strong Proposal Writing and Communication skills to develop clear, compelling narratives and correspondence with funders.
• Solid Analytical Skills and Research abilities to identify funding opportunities, interpret guidelines, and synthesize complex information.
• Foundational Budgeting skills for assisting in the preparation of simple grant budgets and financial summaries.
• Attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a remote setting.
• Interest in environmental stewardship, social impact, or faith-based community initiatives.
• Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team and receive constructive feedback on written work.
• Enrollment in or completion of studies in fields such as Nonprofit Management, Environmental Studies, English, Communications, Public Policy, or related disciplines is beneficial.
• Basic proficiency with word processing, spreadsheets, and online collaboration tools; prior experience with grant writing or fundraising is a plus but not required.


Responsibilities
• Use our Grant Tracker to surface high-probability funders and track deadlines
• Draft LOIs, needs statements and narratives aligned to funder priorities
• Build clear budgets and cost justifications with basic assumptions
• Collect supporting data and citations that strengthen the case
• Edit for clarity and RFP compliance then prepare submission packets
• Coordinate follow-ups and record outcomes for re-use


Outcomes
• Experience across the full grant cycle from research to submission
• Confidence reading RFPs and aligning narratives to criteria
• Samples you can share with credit where appropriate
• Interns who complete the 4 month program receive a certificate of completion and a letter of recommendation


Please note: this is an unpaid internship. The length of the internship is 4 months, however, you are more than welcome to extend. Upon completion of the program, EcoServants will issue you a graduation certificate as well as letter of recommendation to help you secure full or part time paid employment.
