Flex-O-Glass is seeking a highly motivated Manufacturing Engineer Intern for the Summer of 2026. This hands-on internship provides an opportunity for a student pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing, or focus on Process Engineering to gain practical experience in plastics manufacturing, process optimization, and machinery/facility maintenance. The intern will work closely with our Plant Managers and Engineering team to design and implement new processes, and maintain the existing facilities and machines.
Qualifications
• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree (or higher) program in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Technology, Manufacturing, or Process Engineering focus.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Understanding of key continuous improvement strategies or methodologies.
• Strong troubleshooting skills and a proactive approach to challenges.
Responsibilities (Under Supervision As Needed)
• Troubleshoot existing processes to reduce downtime, improve quality, and enhance productivity.
• Assist with special projects in the production department, including machinery startup/training procedures and process optimization.
• Lead and control project on continuous improvement concepts or process redesign.
• Design or implement engineering solutions to create efficiencies and enhance operations.
• Research inefficiencies with extruder screw and barrel wear. Assist in measuring the wear in machines and set thresholds for replacement based on output capacities, runtime, and payback.
