Job Description

Job Purpose

Furnitureland South is looking for a motivated Merchandising Intern to work on a variety of merchandising projects in-store. The ideal intern will be a great fit for our energetic and creative team. You’ll gain hands-on experience working on challenging, meaningful projects with guidance from a mentor and other members of our team.

Essential Functions And Responsibilities

• Explore retail trends and competitive pricing strategies to identify new opportunities and improve product offerings.
• Support the setup and breakdown of showroom displays, ensuring all components are properly organized and visually appealing.
• Participate in brainstorming sessions and provide input on creative ideas for merchandising and product placement strategies.
• Analyze vendor data, including product performance and sales trends, to provide insights that aid in vendor selection and ordering decisions.
• Support efforts to evaluate vendor practices, focusing on sustainable product information and materials.
• Collaborate with the visual merchandising team to create engaging displays and arrange accessories that enhance the customer experience.
• Assist designers in planning and executing showroom layouts and designs, ensuring alignment with branding and functional requirements.
• Assist with various merchandising tasks and projects as needed to support team objectives.
• Other duties as assigned


Working conditions

This job operates in an onsite professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers, photocopiers and smartphones.

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience

Must be enrolled in a four-year college/university, preferably, but not limited to the status of a rising senior at the time of the internship or an individual enrolled in a two-year college with at least one year of relevant work experience.

Preferred Education And Experience

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
