Job Description

Description

Futurewei Technologies is looking for a highly motivated Research Intern to join our team exploring cutting-edge materials for wearable electronics. The position will focus on the development and characterization of flexible, skin-compatible materials, such as hydrogels, elastomers, and composite films, for use in next-generation soft sensors and wearable interfaces.

This is a research-focused internship intended for candidates passionate about interdisciplinary innovation at the intersection of materials science, biocompatible design, and human–machine interfaces. Candidates will contribute to early-stage prototyping and experimental studies that inform future wearable platforms.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and fabricate flexible and stretchable materials suitable for on-skin applications, including hydrogels, conductive elastomers, and biocompatible films.
• Conduct experiments to characterize mechanical, electrical, and adhesion properties of materials.
• Evaluate material compatibility with soft sensor architectures and investigate integration strategies for wearable form factors.
• Prepare and present experimental findings in internal reports, presentations, and literature reviews.

Minimum Qualifications

• Knowledge and hands-on experience in chemical lab.
• Enrolled in a Master’s or Ph.D. program in Materials Science, Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related major.
• Strong interest in wearable devices, skin-interfaced electronics, and interdisciplinary research.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
