Job Summary
The Supply Chain Intern will support continuous improvement initiatives across parts delivery, shipping, receiving, and inventory control operations for the warehouse/shipping dock. This role focuses on optimizing material flow, enhancing visual management systems, and improving inventory accuracy to support daily production and customer shipment requirements. This is a hands-on role ideal for a student pursuing Supply Chain, Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, or a related field who is interested in Lean principles, process improvement, and warehouse operations.
Job Duties
Parts Delivery Route
• Optimize parts delivery routes.
• Add visual triggers for replenishment.
• Evaluate current route design for parts delivery (Setup cyclical routes that are run on a daily cadence) ensure parts are delivered on time and prioritized to current daily shipment needs.
• Look at 5’s VM systems for parts return.
• Setup process improvements for return parts putaway and consolidation in inventory.
Visual Management on Shipping Dock
• Look at visual process (triggers) for daily shipping / picking / staging status.
• Crate SWI’s for process improvements / Train current staff.
ASN Process for Inbound deliveries
Visual Management on Receiving Dock
• Apply definition squares for designated areas.
• Create SWI’s for process improvements / Train current staff.
Cycle Count Program
• Implement a new Cycle count program driven by A, B status (Frequency of count based off of velocity, and $$).
• Implement “empty bin” and “Bin consolidation” process.
• Improve Process for daily “Hot” cycle counts to support daily production operations.
• Adhere to 5S standards (e.g., maintain cleanliness of work area, etc.)
• Follow all Safety, Environmental and Quality policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Experience and Education
• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, Business, or related field.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Interest in Lean, 5S, and continuous improvement methodologies.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel (data analysis skills preferred).
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced warehouse environment.
