Position Title: Transportation Planning Intern

Status: Part-time Intern

Salary: $23.00/hr

Location: Maricopa Association of Governments, downtown Phoenix, Arizona.

Note: The schedule for this position is flexible but it is anticipated that the intern will work a minimum of 15-20 hours per week.

Your Team

The Freeway Engineering Team provides oversight and management for the implementation of the Freeway Life Cycle Program under Propositions 400 and 479. The team plays a key role in the delivery of the program by performing studies, identifying needs, assessing evaluations of transportation infrastructure, and coordinating the delivery of the program with the Arizona Department of Transportation.

The Position

MAG is seeking a qualified, team-oriented student in Urban Planning, Transportation Engineering, or related fields for a paid internship. Undergraduate students in their fourth year, graduate students, and recent graduates are encouraged to apply. All applicants with relevant experience or coursework will be considered. This is an excellent opportunity for students or recent graduates looking to build experience in the transportation sector while making an impact on regional mobility.

Duties

We are seeking a Transportation Intern to assist with regional transportation planning studies and gain real-world exposure to transportation planning, public engagement, and contract management. The primary duties of the internship will include, but are not limited to:

• Assist in project management, research, data collection, writing, presentations and communications associated with transportation planning studies.
• Support the assessment, analysis and evaluation of transportation infrastructure design, functionality, cost, schedule and project risk.
• Assist with the management and coordination of transportation studies, ensuring project deliverables are met.
• Engage with public and partner agencies, including local governments, the Maricopa County Department of Transportation, Valley Metro and the Arizona Department of Transportation.
• Coordinating with the Arizona Department of Transportation in delivery of the freeway projects in the program.
• Participate in professional presentations to community groups, city and town councils.
• Work alongside industry professionals in all aspects of transportation planning.
