Internship Description

MarkMedia produces documentary-style films for some of the world’s most sophisticated investors — private equity firms, venture capital funds, and the operators they back. Our work helps clients raise capital, win mandates, and build credibility.
We’re hiring one paid Video Editor Intern to train into our next full-time Video Editor.
Apply here: https://form.typeform.com/to/Pt8tN1rf

About MarkMedia
We don’t do actors or scripted commercials. We capture real people — founders, fund managers, executives, internal teams — telling real stories on websites that close funding rounds, in pitch meetings that win business, and on stages where leaders speak. The bar is high because the stakes are high: clients use this content to move millions of dollars.
You’ll work directly with our founder, who came up through investment banking, private equity, and venture capital before building MarkMedia. That access to a senior operator who actually understands our clients’ world is rare on a junior creative team — and it’s the fastest way to learn how this kind of work gets made.

The Craft We Hire For
The editing craft at MarkMedia is documentary interview work — finding the emotional beat in a 90-minute conversation, building narrative from raw human moments, knowing when to cut and when to let a beat breathe. If interview-based corporate storytelling is what you want to get great at, this is rare hands-on training in that specific craft.
This is a structured, mentorship-driven program built around a single outcome: by the end of the internship, both sides should know whether this is the start of your career at MarkMedia. High performers move directly into a full-time, salaried role.

Internship Details
Location: NYC-preferred (hybrid in-office and remote). Open to fully remote for the right candidate — proximity is a plus, not a hard requirement.
Commitment: ~20 hours/week, 2–3 days/week (flexible around school or other commitments)
Duration: 3–4 months
Start date: Ideal start date June 1, 2026. We’re reviewing applications immediately.
Compensation: $25/hour (approximately $6,000–$8,000 total over the internship)
Path forward: High performers convert to a full-time, salaried Video Editor role at MarkMedia

About the Internship Program
This is a paid internship designed to identify and develop our next full-time editor. We believe the best editors are built — they grow with a team, learn a process, develop their taste alongside the people they work with, and earn their reps on real client work. This program is designed to bring on someone who’s at the start of that journey and grow with them from day one. It’s mentorship-driven, with one-on-one feedback from our founder and Senior Editor on real client deliverables.
If you’re looking for an internship that’s a real on-ramp to a salaried career — with mentorship, real projects, and a clear path forward — this is exactly that.

About the Role
As a Video Editor Intern at MarkMedia, you’ll work side-by-side with our founder and Senior Editor to take real client projects from raw footage to polished, client-ready delivery. From day one, you’ll be actively editing — not running errands. You’ll start with foundational tasks like ingest, transcription, and shot selection, then move into structuring compelling narratives, integrating B-roll, adding graphics, refining color, and learning AI-assisted editing workflows. Alongside the technical craft, you’ll be coached on the taste side of the job: how to find the emotional beat in a 90-minute interview, when to cut for impact, and what makes a corporate story actually move people.

How We Work
We give direct, specific feedback fast. Revision cycles are tight because our clients are demanding and sophisticated. If you thrive in that environment — high standards, quick turnarounds, and a real bar for the work — you’ll love it here. If you need a slower pace or constant hand-holding, this won’t be the right fit.

Key Responsibilities
- Ingest, organize, and transcribe interview footage
- Pull selects and identify the strongest narrative beats in long-form interviews
- Build A-roll edits and source B-roll
- Apply color correction and basic grading
- Add graphics, lower-thirds, captions, and visual enhancements
- Cut down long-form pieces into short-form social adaptations
- Collaborate with producers and designers to meet deadlines
- Use AI-assisted editing tools for transcription, indexing, and rough assembly

What You’ll Learn
- Professional post-production workflows on real client work for sophisticated investor and operator clients
- Documentary-style narrative editing for corporate and investor audiences
- Color correction and grading in DaVinci Resolve
- AI-assisted editing methods that are reshaping modern post-production
- Efficient project organization, file management, and version control
- How motion graphics integrate with the edit on a small, collaborative team

Ideal Candidate
- Working familiarity with Adobe Premiere Pro (school, freelance, or self-taught all count)
- Taste and instinct for storytelling — you can articulate why an edit works or doesn’t
- Eagerness to learn quickly and take direct feedback
- Genuine interest in long-form, corporate, and documentary storytelling (this is not TikTok content)
- Reliable, organized, and communicative — we move fast and ship to deadlines
- NYC-preferred but open to remote for an exceptional candidate
Helpful but not required: Exposure to DaVinci Resolve, After Effects, AI editing tools, or interview-based documentary work.

Internship Outcomes
- Edit multiple real-world client projects from raw footage to final export
- Build a portfolio of professional, client-ready work for sophisticated investor and operator clients
- Become fluent in our workflow, tools, and creative standards
- A clear path to a full-time, salaried Video Editor role at MarkMedia, if it’s a fit on both sides

How to Apply
Apply here: https://form.typeform.com/to/Pt8tN1rf
The application takes about 10 minutes. You’ll share your reel, two cuts you’re most proud of with one sentence each on why, a short reflection on a piece of work whose editing you’d study, your resume, and (optional but strongly encouraged) a 60-second video introducing yourself — who you are, why you’re excited about this internship, and what you’d bring to it. We’d love to learn more about you.
We’re reviewing applications immediately on a rolling basis and respond to every applicant within two weeks. Ideal start date is June 1, 2026.
