Role Description This is an on-site internship role for a Registered Dietitian Intern based in Florida, United States. The intern will support nutrition assessments, assist in developing and updating individualized care plans, and help monitor residents’ and patients’ nutritional status under the supervision of a licensed dietitian. Daily responsibilities may include participating in interdisciplinary care team meetings, documenting nutrition interventions, and assisting with menu planning to meet clinical, cultural, and regulatory needs. The intern will also help with nutrition education for residents, patients, families, and staff, as well as support quality improvement initiatives related to foodservice and clinical nutrition. This role offers hands-on experience in healthcare settings, exposure to regulatory requirements, and opportunities to develop professional practice skills in medical nutrition therapy and foodservice operations.
Qualifications
• Currently enrolled in, or recent completion of, an ACEND-accredited dietetics program or supervised practice experience, with eligibility to pursue the Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) credential.
• Foundational knowledge of medical nutrition therapy, nutrition assessment, and care planning in clinical or long-term care settings.
• Strong interest in foodservice operations, including menu planning, special diets, and basic understanding of food safety and sanitation standards.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and provide clear nutrition education to diverse populations.
• Solid organizational and time-management abilities, including accurate documentation, attention to detail, and reliability in completing assigned tasks.
• Comfort working on-site in healthcare environments in Florida, with flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and patient needs.
• Proficiency with basic computer applications (e.g., electronic medical records, Microsoft Office or similar tools); willingness to learn facility-specific systems.
• Commitment to evidence-based practice, professional ethics, and culturally responsive care; previous volunteer or work experience in healthcare or foodservice is a plus.
