Job Title: Purchasing Intern

Department: Administration 75

Reports To: Senior Buyer

Location: Elkhorn, WI

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt (Internship)

Duration: Summer Internship (May–August; flexible based on academic calendar) Schedule: Full-time

Position Summary

The Purchasing Intern will support the procurement and supply chain functions by assisting with sourcing activities, purchase order management, supplier communication, and data maintenance. This role provides hands-on exposure to purchasing processes within a manufacturing environment and offers the opportunity to develop foundational skills in supply chain operations, vendor management, and ERP systems. This summer internship is designed to provide practical experience and meaningful project work that supports business operations while enhancing the intern’s professional development.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Assist with creating and processing purchase orders in alignment with production and inventory needs.
• Support sourcing activities by researching suppliers, pricing, and product availability.
• Maintain and update supplier, part, and pricing data within ERP/MRP systems.
• Help monitor open orders, lead times, and delivery schedules to ensure on-time material availability.
• Assist in tracking vendor performance, including quality, cost, and delivery metrics.
• Support inventory management efforts, including data analysis and reconciliation.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Operations, Engineering, and Finance to support purchasing needs.
• Assist with documentation, reporting, and data analysis using Microsoft Excel.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives within the purchasing and supply chain function.
• Perform other administrative and departmental support tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

• Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Office Suite.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Previous internship or relevant coursework is a plus but not required.
