Position Description

We are seeking a motivated Behavioral Health Intern to join our interdisciplinary team at an Intermediate Care Facility for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities (ICF/IID). This internship provides hands-on experience in delivering behavioral health services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Under the supervision of licensed professionals, the intern will assist with behavioral assessments, data collection, and the development and implementation of individualized behavior support plans.

The intern will actively participate in team meetings, contribute to person-centered planning, and support staff in applying evidence-based behavioral strategies. Responsibilities include monitoring progress toward behavioral goals, maintaining accurate documentation, and ensuring compliance with ethical and regulatory standards. This role offers exposure to applied behavior analysis (ABA), positive behavior supports, and trauma-informed care practices.

Eligible students need to be enrolled in a graduate or undergraduate program in Psychology, Applied Behavior Analysis or related field.

Housing may be provided if needed.

Qualifications

Applicant must be enrolled as a part-time/full-time student at a college, university, or technical institute at the time they apply. By the start of the internship, the student should have completed one year (nine months) of their chosen program.

All students are encouraged to apply, but preference may be given to applicants with a standing of junior/senior, South Dakota residents, and students of South Dakota institutions.
