Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site Cardiopulmonary Rehab Internship located in Kansas City, KS. This hands-on internship will provide experience in patient care and support services within the cardiopulmonary rehabilitation program. The intern will help with all daily tasks performed by staff including patient evaluations, monitoring patient progress, and contributing to maintaining a safe and supportive environment for patients. This is an unpaid internship that is generally structured around class terms (i.e. Fall semester, Spring semester, Summer).
Skills you would learn:
· Leading and guiding patients through rehab sessions
· Exercise Prescription
· Telemetry monitoring
· Assessing vitals such as blood pressure measurement
· Patient education and group exercise classes
· Inpatient cardiac rehabilitation and education
Potential shadow opportunities:
Cardiac catheterization lab, cardiothoracic surgery, pulmonary function lab, cardiopulmonary exercise testing, and more!
Qualifications
• Current enrollment in or recent completion of an exercise science program at an accredited university.
• Understanding of basic exercise science principles
• Strong communication, organizational, and patient interaction skills
• Basic Life Support Certification
• Ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team
