Internship Summary :
The Legal & Compliance Intern will support the development and operationalization of the company’s contract management workflow. This role will focus on entering and organizing contracts within the company’s contract database, assisting in the creation of a scalable contract submission process, and helping ensure compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate is detail‑oriented, highly organized, and interested in corporate compliance, legal operations, and process development.
Key Responsibilities
Contract Intake & Data Entry
• Review incoming contracts for completeness and accuracy.
• Enter contract metadata (e.g., counterparty, effective dates, terms, renewal information, contract type) into the company’s contract management software or database.
• Upload and index executed agreements in accordance with internal naming and filing conventions.
• Maintain data integrity by routinely auditing contract entries and flagging inconsistencies or missing information.
Contract Submission Process Build‑Out
• Assist in designing a standardized contract submission workflow, including intake forms, metadata requirements, approval paths, and documentation steps.
• Help map current contract intake processes and identify gaps, bottlenecks, or compliance risks.
• Draft process documents, SOPs, and user instructions for employees submitting contracts.
• Collaborate with Legal, Compliance, Procurement, Finance, Sales, and other stakeholders to ensure the submission process is practical and aligned with business needs.
• Support testing of the new submission workflow, tracking issues, and recommending improvements.
Legal Operations & Compliance Support
• Maintain organized internal documentation related to compliance programs, policies, and procedures.
• Assist with special projects related to regulatory compliance, contract lifecycle management, and internal audits.
• Support process automation or system enhancements within the contract management tool.
• Help prepare reports or dashboards on contract volumes, contract types, processing times, and compliance trends (if applicable).
Qualifications
Education
• Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s program in Legal Studies, Pre‑Law, Business, Compliance, Public Policy, or a related field.
Skills & Competencies
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
• Proficiency with Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, SharePoint, Teams); experience with contract management systems is a plus.
• Analytical mindset with an interest in process improvement, legal operations, or compliance.
