Job Description

Location: Remote (CT resident/student)
Hours: 10 to 12 per week
Duration: All internships are offered three times per year. Applicants select one semester to begin.
• Spring Semester: January 12 – May 15
• Summer Semester: June 1 – August 16
• Fall Semester: September 1 – December 19
Interns who perform well may continue into subsequent semesters without reapplying, subject to mutual agreement and availability.
Compensation: Unpaid internship for academic credit or work experience
We are hiring for 4 positions: Mentor Intern, Content Creator Intern, Career Exploration and Media Intern, and Business Development and Campus Partnerships Intern. PLEASE READ EACH DESCRIPTION BELOW AND SPECIFY WHICH ROLE YOU ARE APPLYING FOR!

Mentor Intern
Position Overview:
The Mentor Intern supports high school students as they build their Resumix, explore careers, and prepare for life after graduation. Students choose mentors based on the videos mentors
create, so building a strong video presence is essential. This role combines mentorship,
storytelling, and guidance.
Core Requirement: Build a Bookable Mentor Profile
Within the first two weeks, Mentor Interns must publish at least 6 short videos. Suggested
videos include:
• Introduction and what you mentor on
• A challenge you faced in high school
• Why you chose your major or pathway
• A day in your life as a student or young professional
• A practical tip for high school success
• Something you wish you had known earlier
Key Responsibilities:
• 1-hour online Mentor Training and 1-hour live Mentor Meeting
• Attend 1-hour weekly team meeting
• Create and maintain your Mentor presence with videos and active engagement
• Provide one-on-one mentorship during your set availability
• Update mentor availability biweekly to ensure students always have accurate options for booking sessions
• Guide students through their Resumix or Capstone projects
• Share your academic, career, and life experiences
• Post tips and share resources within the community

Content Creator Intern
Position Overview:
The Content Creator Intern produces fun, relatable, and insightful content to guide and
inspire high school students. Ideal for students comfortable on camera or behind the scenes,
this role involves creating videos, posts, animations, voiceovers, and other creative formats.
Key Responsibilities:
• Attend the weekly 1-hour team meeting
• Infotainment-Style Content Creation: Create short-form videos, posts, and blog-style content that blends mentorship and entertainment, drawing from your own experiences, advice, or interviews
• Weekly Content Cadence: Produce and publish three posts per week inside the Upptik platform to maintain consistent engagement with high school students
• Relatable Voice of Guidance: Use your personal journey and authentic tone to help students feel supported, motivated, and understood
• Content Alignment: Ensure all content reflects Upptik’s brand tone — direct, honest, motivational, and supportive
• Platform Growth & Engagement: Share content posted by Upptik across Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, LinkedIn, and YouTube to your personal social media accounts.
• Proudly showcase the work you create by tagging Upptik and inviting peers or relevant networks to engage with the content
Learning Objectives:
• Make meaningful messages engaging and shareable
• Build storytelling and digital mentorship skills

Career Exploration and Media Intern
Position Overview:
The Career Exploration and Media Intern helps students discover real-world job paths by
creating engaging, research-based content. This role is ideal for students interested in
journalism, media production, education, or communications. Interns will conduct interviews,
gather career insights, and create multimedia content that is honest, accessible, and
teen-friendly.
Key Responsibilities:
• Attend the weekly 1-hour team meeting
• Career Interviews: Identify, secure, and interview professionals across industries
• Biweekly Interview Cadence: Conduct and submit career interviews every two weeks, ensuring each interview is completed, packaged, and delivered on schedule
• Insight Translation: Convert insights from interviews into clear, engaging content for high school students
• Career Research & Exploration: Research career paths and repackage reliable information into student-friendly formats
• Multimedia Content Production: Create videos, scripts, visuals, short posts, or written features that highlight real career journeys
• Social Media & Platform Support: Contribute to Upptik’s presence on Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, LinkedIn, and YouTube
• Content Alignment: Ensure all content reflects Upptik’s tone — clear, honest, relatable, and helpful
• Platform Growth & Engagement: Support growth on social media and inside the Upptik platform. Interns will share posted content from Upptik’s social channels — Instagram, Tiktok, Facebook, LinkedIn, and YouTube — to any of their existing personal social media accounts. Interns are encouraged to proudly showcase the work they create by sharing it to their socials and tagging Upptik, celebrating their contributions and creativity. They should also help expand engagement by inviting peers or relevant networks.

Business Development Intern
Position Overview:
As a Business Development Intern, you will help expand Upptik’s
presence at colleges and universities by strengthening relationships with Career Services
offices, student organizations, academic departments, and campus leaders. Your primary goal
is to build a sustainable recruitment pipeline by launching small campus teams that
increase awareness, attract future interns, and support student career development. This
role is ideal for students interested in business development, partnerships, outreach strategy,
and mission-driven engagement.
Core Requirement: Establish a Campus Presence:
During your first two weeks, you will:
• Complete a 1-hour Campus Developer Training
• Create a 3-part Campus Introduction Toolkit: an intro video, written outreach message, and “Why Upptik Matters for Students” overview
• Identify 2–3 key campus contacts (Career Services, Student Activities, departments, or clubs)
Key Responsibilities:
Campus & Partnership Development
• Build relationships with Career Services, academic departments, and student organizations
• Introduce Upptik as a valuable student career development resource
• Explain how Upptik Mentors, internships, and programs support students
Campus Team Recruitment
• Identify potential student ambassadors or future interns
• Help form small Upptik Campus Teams
• Guide interested students through next steps
Outreach & Communication
• Create and send outreach messages to campus partners
• Schedule introductory meetings with Career Services or faculty
• Develop campus-specific messages, flyers, or talking points
Brand & Community Representation
• Create 2–3 short videos introducing yourself and Upptik’s mission
• Represent Upptik at virtual career fairs, meetings, or info sessions when available
Weekly Expectations:
• Attend the weekly 1-hour team meeting
• Complete weekly outreach goals
• Track contacts, meetings, and progress in Upptik’s shared system
• Collaborate with other Community Development Interns across campuses
Learning Objectives:
• Strengthen outreach and relationship-building skills
• Gain experience in partnership strategy and campus engagement
• Conduct discovery conversations with stakeholders
• Create outreach pipelines and support campus activation
• Build leadership skills through peer and community engagement
Qualifications:
• Currently enrolled in a college or university
• Preferably studying Business, Marketing, Management, Communications, or a related field
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Organized, proactive, and comfortable initiating outreach
• Professional, reliable, and mission-driven
