Position: Service Assistant Intern
Department: Service Department
Location: Sacramento, CA (in-person)
Term: Summer 2026 or Fall 2026 (flexible start)
Hours: Summer: 30–40 hrs/week | Fall: 15–25 hrs/week (school-friendly)
Compensation: $20–$24/hour, depending on experience
Reports To: Kailey McCarthy, COO & Hayden Rabideau, President
Eligibility: Current college students and recent graduates
The Role
The Service Assistant Intern works directly with our COO and President to keep our leak response,
maintenance program, and complimentary inspection workflows running smoothly. You'll be in the room
(and on the calls) as we figure out how to grow the service side of the company — from process design and software rollouts to customer communication and reporting.
Key Responsibilities
• Customer Service: Answer service calls and emails from property managers and building owners; log
requests in our Watson Community portal; follow up on open tickets and keep customers informed.
• Dispatch & Scheduling Support: Help coordinate service technicians, schedule inspections and leak
responses, and make sure crews have what they need before they roll out.
• Systems & Software: Work hands-on inside our service management, CRM, and project tracking
tools. Help identify what's working, what isn't, and where automation or better workflows could save
hours every week.
• Reporting & Data: Pull service metrics — response time, ticket volume, recurring customers,
maintenance plan renewals — and help build simple dashboards leadership can act on.
• Maintenance Program Growth: Support outreach to existing customers about preventative
maintenance plans, prepare proposals, and track conversion.
• Process Documentation: As you learn each workflow, write it down. By the end of the internship,
you'll have helped build a service playbook the team uses long after you're gone.
• Field Exposure: Ride along on inspections and service calls so you understand what we actually do
up on the roof — not just what it looks like from a desk.
Who We're Looking For
We're not looking for a specific major. We're looking for someone who's curious, organized, and actually
wants to learn how a business works from the inside.
• Current college student (junior, senior, or graduate) or recent graduate — any major considered
• Strong written and verbal communication; comfortable on the phone with customers and vendors
• Organized, detail-oriented, and able to juggle multiple open threads without dropping things
• Comfortable with technology — Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, and willingness to learn industry
software
• A bias toward action: when you see something broken, you want to fix it
• Interest in business operations, customer experience, construction, real estate, or the trades is a plus
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation (you'll occasionally visit job sites)
Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. We aim to respond within one week. Watson Companies is an
equal opportunity employer.
