Brief Description
Warehouse Distribution Interns at ifm play a vital role in supporting daily operations while gaining hands-on experience in a fast-paced distribution environment. This internship is designed for students pursuing a degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, or a related field who are looking to apply classroom knowledge to real-world operations.
Interns will work alongside our distribution team to support order fulfillment and warehouse processes, while also completing a structured project focused on process improvement and operational efficiency. This position is based in our air-conditioned warehouse in Downingtown, PA.
Job Responsibilities
• Support picking, packing, shipping, and replenishment using a paperless process and wearable technology.
• Assist with inbound receiving, quality inspections, and value-add activities.
• Rotate through key distribution center functions (picking, putaway, inventory management, and others) to gain a full understanding of operations.
• Complete a small project focused on process improvements.
• Present project findings and recommendations to warehouse leadership at the conclusion of the internship.
Schedule & Pay
• Full-time summer internship (approx. May–August, flexible based on school schedule)
• Typical hours: 9:00 am – 5:30 pm or 10:00 am – 6:30 pm
• Pay: $19–$20/hour
Candidate Requirements
• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program (2nd or 3rd year preferred) in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or a related field
• Strong interest in warehouse operations, distribution, or process improvement
• Basic mathematical skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, percentages)
• Ability to lift 40–50 lbs and perform physical tasks (standing, walking, lifting, etc.)
• Comfortable working with technology, including wearable scanning devices
• Strong attention to detail, organization, and willingness to learn
• Reliable transportation required
Preferred Qualifications
• Previous internship or part-time experience in a warehouse, manufacturing, or operations environment
• Interest in data analysis, process improvement, or continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, 5S, etc.)
