The Hanford Mission Integration Solutions (HMIS) Internship Program offers Undergraduate students and recent graduates an exciting opportunity to work with industry professionals, develop skills, and explore careers in environmental management, engineering, technology, business, and more.
Interns will contribute to the successful execution of sitewide operations, infrastructure management, and project support, learning from experts and gaining insight into one of the nation's most important environmental missions.
Hanford Mission Integration Solutions (HMIS) is seeking an Undergrad Intern to support the following organizations/department: Safety and Health Field Support
Job Duties/Scope of Work: Intern will work for the Safety and Health Field Support organization. The intern will be primarily supporting heat stress monitoring activities for RES. Additionally, the intern may be assigned other duties consisting of Maintenance or safety and health related administrative and field support items.
Basic Qualifications
• Pursuing a bachelor's degree Safety and Health, Science, Engineering or a closely related field.
• Must have one college term completed at an accredited college or university, must be enrolled as a full-time student, and live within a commutable distance from the Richland work location.
• Must have and maintain an overall GPA of 2.5 or above.
• Must be available to work a minimum of 40 hours per week.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Personal Identity Verification (PIV) Credential badge.
• Obtain and maintain an active Washington State driver's license.
• Will be required to climb ladders to access facility roof-top work activities.
• Requires excellent written, oral, listening, and presentation skills.
• Must be able to perform multiple job tasks simultaneously to effectively manage assignments and support initiatives.
• Requires Mid-Level experience in a variety of computer programs such as: Word, E-mail program (Outlook), Excel, PowerPoint, and databases.
• Requires ability to identify issues, collect data, establish facts, draw conclusions, and make decisions within the boundaries of established procedures.
Desired Qualifications
• Completion of coursework in safety and health related topics.
• Prior internship, co-op, or volunteer experience in safety and health.

Hourly Rate:
Freshman: $18.26
Sophomore: $24.38
Junior: $24.47
Senior: $28.87
In accordance with the HMIS wage determination process, offers will be made by taking into consideration the degree program the candidate is currently enrolled in - or - scope of work the position will perform, grade level in school (freshman, sophomore, junior, and senior) as well as the external labor market. A candidate's salary history will not be used in compensation decisions. The starting rates, and ranges listed (if applicable) represents the full wage scale that may be offered for this position.
In accordance with the Service Contract Act, this position is eligible for the health & welfare wage adder of up to $4.93 per hour.
