Description
The Modesto Irrigation District is currently recruiting to fill two part-time temporary hourly-intermittent Student Interns, up to 40 hours per week for the summer, in the Water Operations Division. Student interns can expect to work on a variety of special projects related to irrigation and/or civil engineering and land survey during the term of his/her internship.
Examples of Duties
Potential projects during the internship include, but are not limited to:
• Facility mapping utilizing GPS equipment.
• Water flow measurements at specific locations in the irrigation system.
• Research records and files to determine MID’s ownership or land permissions related to irrigation facilities such as canals, laterals, and pipelines.
• Data entry of irrigation facilities and land information (inventory).
• Assist with the preparation of maps, exhibits, or drawings utilizing AutoCAD and GIS software.
• Assist with Land Survey field measurements for irrigation facilities.
Typical Qualifications
Typical qualifications may include:
• Enrolled in a four year college or university. Preference will be given to upper class applicants or recent college graduates planning to attend graduate school.
• Ability to communicate clearly and concisely.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to work cooperatively with others.
Special Requirement: Must have a valid California Class C driver license.
