Internship Description

PS Seasoning is a fast-growing, innovation-driven food company specializing in seasonings, sauces, and meat-focused food product development. Our R&D team works at the intersection of culinary creativity, food science, and manufacturing scale-up — bringing bold ideas from bench-top to production.

We are seeking a motivated Food Science student to join our R&D team for a hands-on, high-impact summer internship.

What You’ll Experience

This is not a shadow-only internship. You will work directly in our lab and pilot environment alongside Food Scientists and Operations teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in formulation and reformulation of seasoning blends and sauces
• Conduct bench-top and pilot plant trials
• Perform analytical testing (Bostwick viscosity, pH, density, moisture, water activity)
• Support fill studies and processing parameter evaluations
• Participate in Stage-Gate product development meetings
• Observe and support first-time production runs
• Assist with ingredient statement and specification documentation
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Quality, Operations, and Supply Chain

Capstone Project

Each intern will own a defined technical project (e.g., sauce flow optimization, seasoning standardization, cost optimization study, or process improvement initiative).

The internship concludes with a formal presentation of findings to R&D and Operations leadership.

What You’ll Gain

• Real-world commercialization exposure
• Hands-on liquid and dry blending experience
• Understanding of FDA/USDA labeling fundamentals
• Experience working inside a production-scale food facility
• Cross-functional communication and problem-solving skills
• A completed technical project for your professional portfolio

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Meat Science, Biology, Chemistry, or related field
• Junior or Senior standing preferred
• Strong interest in food formulation and processing
• Detail-oriented and comfortable in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
• Basic Excel proficiency
• No prior industry experience required

Why Join Us?

• Paid internship
• Direct mentorship from experienced Food Scientists
• Exposure to commercialization and manufacturing
• Outdoor courtyard with putting green
• 50% employee product discount
