Internship Overview
Wild Flowerchild Farms is seeking a Summer Farm and Floral Intern for a short-term, hands-on educational opportunity focused on sustainable growing practices, seasonal flower production, harvest handling, floral processing, and farm workflow.
This internship is designed for an individual who is eager to learn through direct observation, guided participation, and supervised hands-on experience in a real working farm environment. The internship is intended to provide broad, transferable exposure to small-scale agriculture, horticulture, and floral production.
Learning Areas May Include
- Seasonal flower and specialty crop production
- Sustainable small-farm growing practices
- Harvest timing and post-harvest handling
- Floral conditioning and introductory bouquet mechanics
- Tool care, sanitation, and safe farm practices
- Farm organization, workflow, and seasonal production systems
Educational Activities May Include
- Shadowing and guided participation in planting, harvesting, and crop care
- Observing and assisting with flower processing and post-harvest handling
- Participating in supervised floral preparation activities
- Learning safe and proper use of basic farm and floral tools
- Exposure to the day-to-day systems involved in seasonal farm production
Qualifications
- Strong interest in farming, flowers, horticulture, sustainability, or local food systems
- Willingness to learn, ask questions, and take direction
- Dependable, respectful, and professional
- Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Able to perform physical tasks such as bending, standing, walking uneven ground, carrying buckets, and repetitive hand work
- Prior experience is welcome but not required
