Title: Fundraising and Events Intern

Part-Time: 20 hours per week

Internship Duration: 6-month internship

Location: Culver City, CA; Hybrid (remote options not available); half-time at the office and half-time remote or at outreach/fundraising events.

Monthly Stipend: $500-$750 (depending on commitment and degree level); Academic Credit Available

Internship Overview

This internship is designed to provide a structured learning experience for individuals interested in nonprofit development, event planning, and fundraising.

The Fundraising and Events intern will gain exposure to donor engagement strategies, event planning processes, and community outreach efforts. This is a structured training opportunity intended to support professional growth and skill development in the nonprofit sector.

Learning Experience & Exposure

Through this internship, participants will have the opportunity to:

• Observe and contribute to the planning and execution of major fundraising events (Gala, Golf Tournament, Hike)
• Learn how nonprofits engage donors and cultivate long-term supporter relationships
• Gain insight into outreach strategies, including partnerships and in-kind sponsorships
• Develop professional communication skills through exposure to donor-facing materials and correspondence
• Understand event logistics, including coordination, tracking, and post-event follow-up
• Experience collaboration within a mission-driven development team
• Gain exposure to researching industry trends and identifying potential partnership opportunities, including corporate CSR engagement
• Observe and contribute to donor acknowledgment processes and post-event follow-up communications
• Collaborate with the Development team to learn how external communications are drafted and tailored for donor audiences
• Participate in the process of sourcing and securing auction items for fundraising events
• Support tracking systems for auction items and gain insight into post-event stewardship practices
• Engage in event logistics, including preparation, on-site coordination, and post-event wrap-up
• Experience a variety of event-related activities and team workflows within a nonprofit development environment


Interns will also gain exposure to the planning and execution of smaller, targeted donor cultivation events, as well as Kidsave’s broader, year-round fundraising strategies.

• Strong organizational, administrative, and interpersonal skills
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Interest in developing professional communication and relationship-building skills
• Self-motivated with a willingness to learn in a team-based environment
• Familiarity with Office 365, SharePoint, Adobe Acrobat, Canva, or CRM systems is helpful


Education/Work Experience/Minimum Requirements

• Must be currently enrolled in a university program or have at least two (2) years of college/relevant coursework completed
• Event planning and/or fundraising experience is required
• Ability to commute to the job site/events is required
• Valid Driver's License and Car Insurance required
• Previous Donor Cultivation experience is a plus
• Experience working with foster or at-risk youth is a plus
• Experience working with Black, Latinx, and LGBTQIA audiences a plus
