The Role

The AI Development & Automation Intern will support the design and development of intelligent automation and AI-enabled solutions that improve business and IT workflows. This internship is hands-on and learning-focused, providing exposure to AI agents, automation tools, and Microsoft 365 technologies while working alongside experienced IT, security, and business professionals.

What You’ll Do

AI & Automation Development (with mentorship)

• Assist in building and enhancing AI-powered agents and automations for internal business and IT processes.
• Help develop prompts, workflows, and simple retrieval-based solutions (RAG) using approved enterprise tools.
• Support integrations with Microsoft 365 tools (Teams, SharePoint, Outlook) and basic APIs.
• Test and validate AI agent responses for accuracy, usability, and reliability.


Process Automation & Efficiency

• Help automate repetitive tasks such as data movement, notifications, reporting, and basic workflows.
• Contribute to Power Automate flows, scripts, or low-code solutions under guidance.
• Document automation logic and support reusable patterns.


Security, Governance & Responsible AI

• Learn and follow enterprise security, privacy, and responsible AI standards.


Business Collaboration & Learning

• Shadow meetings with business and IT teams to understand real-world workflows and pain points.
• Translate business needs into simple technical solutions with support from mentors.
• Create basic documentation, demos, and user guides for solutions developed during the internship.


Monitoring & Continuous Improvement

• Help monitor usage and performance of AI agents and automations.
• Gather feedback from users and suggest incremental improvements.
• Learn version control, testing practices, and release processes used in an enterprise environment.


What You’ll Need

Education

• Currently enrolled in a graduate program or a rising senior pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field.


Technical Skills

• Familiarity with at least one scripting or programming language (Python, JavaScript, or PowerShell preferred).
• Basic understanding of automation concepts, APIs, or workflow tools.
• Interest in AI concepts such as large language models, prompt design, and responsible AI.
• Exposure to Microsoft 365, Power Platform, or cloud technologies is a plus.


Salary Range

• Starting Salary Range: $23 - $25/hour. This includes the starting base pay range. Exact compensation will vary based on candidates' qualifications, job related knowledge and experience and specific location.


Hours

• 25 Hours per week, in office in Oakbrook on Tuesdays and Thursdays
