GENERAL POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Harsco Rail is looking for an enthusiastic and analytical Projects & Manufacturing Engineering Intern to join our team. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain practical experience in project development, documentation, and process improvement within a dynamic manufacturing environment. You'll work on key projects and develop valuable skills in lean methodologies and corporate communication.
Qualifications
• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Will include the following, but other duties may be assigned:
• Assist in the development and documentation of manufacturing and engineering projects, from initial concept to completion.
• Gain a deep understanding of Harsco Rail's major projects, including their scope, objectives, and impact.
• Learn and apply the Toyota A3 Process for project documentation, including problem-solving, planning, and reporting.
• Utilize the DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control) methodology to identify areas for process improvement and contribute to solutions.
• Collaborate with various engineering, manufacturing, and project management teams.
• Develop strong interpersonal skills and professional communication within a corporate setting.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
• Engineering Principles: Foundational understanding of engineering concepts, preferably in manufacturing, mechanical, or industrial engineering.
• Problem-Solving: An analytical mindset with the ability to break down complex issues and contribute to solutions.
• Process Improvement: Interest in or exposure to methodologies like Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement. Familiarity with DMAIC is a plus.
• Documentation Skills: Ability to organize information clearly and concisely. Experience with technical writing or report generation is beneficial.
• Project Understanding: Eagerness to learn about project lifecycles and project management methodologies.
• Software Proficiency: Competency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). CAD software experience is a bonus.
• Communication & Interpersonal Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with a willingness to engage with diverse teams and individuals.
• Initiative & Adaptability: Proactive in seeking knowledge and comfortable adapting to new challenges and environments.
