Events Planning Paid Internship for Fall 2026 Position
Summary:
• 10 hours per week at $17 per hour.
• Interns should plan to come into the St. Paul state office twice a week within the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
• Potential to work some weekends & evenings for events. Hiring preference given to candidates that have availability during November 20-22, 2026, which is the weekend of the Minnesota Farmers Union 85th Annual State Convention.
Organization Summary:
Minnesota Farmers Union (MFU) is a progressive, grassroots membership organization that supports family farmers and rural communities. Since 1918, MFU has advocated for family farmers in St. Paul and Washington. MFU works with individuals at the county, state, national and international levels to create strategic partnerships; support new farmers; further agricultural education; increase consumer awareness; and ensure that the voice of family farmers is heard by policy makers.
Brief Description:
This internship will provide opportunities in event organization and planning. The objective for this position is to gain experience engaging with an agricultural organization and strengthen skills in event planning from pre-planning to day-of operations to post-event evaluation. The Events Planning Intern will focus on the MFU Annual State Convention which takes place in Minneapolis from November 20-22, 2026. The Annual State Convention gathers hundreds of MFU members and supporters from across the state and country. It features policy discussions, panels, a live auction and silent auction, merchandise sales, speeches from legislative representatives and a formal banquet dinner.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Assist with database information and membership mailings.
• Track ticket sales and assist in overseeing RSVPs for the Annual State Convention.
• Potential to support upcoming Women’s Programming events.
• Attend meetings with MFU staff and represent the organization at public events.
Experience:
Applicants should be self-motivated, reliable and organized with strong written and verbal communication skills. Familiarity with Microsoft Office, data entry and general office equipment preferred. Ability to work in a flexible and fast-paced environment required. Applicants should demonstrate a passion for agriculture and rural development.
