Role Description This is an on-site Culinary and Pastry Intern role based in Point Clear, AL. The intern will assist culinary and pastry teams with daily mise en place, including measuring, chopping, mixing, and preparing ingredients for service. Responsibilities include supporting pastry production, such as baking, assembling desserts, garnishing plates, and assisting with bread, pastry, and confectionery preparation. The intern will help maintain kitchen and pastry station cleanliness, follow food safety and sanitation standards, and properly store ingredients and finished products. Additional tasks include assisting with buffet setups, banquets, and special events, rotating through different kitchen stations to gain exposure to both hot line and pastry operations, and collaborating with chefs to learn recipes, techniques, and plating standards. This internship role is designed to provide hands-on experience in a resort environment while working flexible shifts, including weekends and holidays as needed.
Qualifications
• Foundational culinary and pastry skills, including basic knife skills, measurement accuracy, and familiarity with baking and cooking techniques.
• Understanding of food safety, sanitation, and proper kitchen hygiene, with a commitment to maintaining a clean and organized work area.
• Strong teamwork, communication, and follow-through skills, with the ability to take direction from multiple chefs and work in a fast-paced environment.
• Attention to detail in plating, portioning, and presentation, with a focus on consistency and quality.
• Currently enrolled in, or recent graduate of, a culinary, pastry, or hospitality program (or equivalent practical experience) preferred.
• Ability to stand for extended periods, lift and carry kitchen items as needed, and work flexible schedules, including weekends and holidays.
• Demonstrated eagerness to learn, openness to feedback, and genuine interest in developing a career in culinary and pastry arts.
