Job Title: Finance Intern – Business Unit Controller
Position Summary
The Finance Intern – Business Unit Controller supports the Commercial Finance team in analyzing customer financial performance, assisting with pricing and quoting activities, and contributing to financial reporting and forecasting processes. This role provides exposure to program financials, cost analysis, and cross-functional collaboration with Program Management, Engineering, Operations, and Sales.
Key Responsibilities
• Assist in preparing and maintaining monthly customer financial reports, ensuring data accuracy and completeness, and supporting financial inputs for customer and internal reviews.
• Analyze pricing data and contribute to pricing strategy support, including validation of financial assumptions.
• Support tracking of program financial performance (revenue, cost, and profitability), including Engineering Change (EC) analysis, tooling costs, capital expenditures, and cash flow.
• Contribute to variance analysis and help identify financial trends and performance risks.
• Assist in collecting and organizing data for customer quotes, supporting cost analysis and margin evaluation to ensure consistency and accuracy.
• Prepare reports, presentations, and dashboards using Excel and PowerPoint, while collaborating with cross-functional teams to gather financial and operational data.
• Provide support for ad hoc financial analysis, special projects, and continuous improvement initiatives within the finance function.
Qualifications Required
• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, or related field
• Basic understanding of financial concepts (e.g., revenue, cost, profit, margins)
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
• Strong analytical and organizational skills
• Attention to detail and accuracy
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently and within a team environment
Preferred
• Prior internship or academic project experience in finance, accounting, or data analysis
• Intermediate Excel skills (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUP)
• Interest in manufacturing, automotive, or commercial finance environments
• Exposure to ERP systems (e.g., SAP) or data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI)
