Role Description The External Operations Graduate Assistant is an internship role that supports the planning and execution of external operations activities for Auburn University at Montgomery. This on-site position, located in the United States, assists with event coordination, community engagement initiatives, and external communications that promote AUM’s programs and partnerships. Day-to-day responsibilities may include helping organize and staff events, supporting outreach to community and institutional partners, preparing basic reports or summaries of external activities, and assisting with logistical tasks for external operations projects. The Graduate Assistant collaborates with staff and faculty to ensure that external initiatives align with the university’s mission and values, while gaining practical experience in higher education operations and stakeholder relations.
Qualifications
• Possess strong organizational and time-management skills to support multiple projects and events.
• Demonstrate effective written and verbal communication skills for internal and external stakeholders.
• Exhibit interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups of learners, faculty, staff, and community partners.
• Show proficiency with common office software (e.g., word processing, spreadsheets, presentation tools) and the ability to learn university systems.
• Maintain professionalism, reliability, and attention to detail in a fast-paced, student-centered environment.
• Be enrolled in, or eligible for, a graduate program at Auburn University at Montgomery and able to meet institutional requirements for graduate assistantships.
• Interest in higher education, community engagement, or external relations; prior experience in events, outreach, or customer service is beneficial.
