Role Description The Intern Mental Health Therapist will support the delivery of client-centered psychotherapy services under licensed supervision in a hybrid role based in Mason, OH, with some work-from-home flexibility. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting intake interviews, assisting with individual therapy sessions, and documenting clinical notes in accordance with ethical and legal standards. The intern will participate in treatment planning, apply evidence-based interventions, and collaborate with supervisors to refine clinical skills and case conceptualization. Additional tasks may include supporting group sessions, engaging in case consultations, and contributing to a therapeutic environment that honors each client’s experiences. This is an internship role designed to build clinical competence through supervised practice, ongoing training, and reflective self-awareness.
Qualifications
• Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a master’s program in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy, or a related mental health field.
• Foundational knowledge of evidence-based therapeutic modalities (e.g., CBT, person-centered, trauma-informed approaches) and interest in applying them collaboratively with clients.
• Strong interpersonal, active listening, and emotional attunement skills to foster a safe, non-judgmental therapeutic space.
• Ability to maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation and uphold ethical, legal, and confidentiality standards.
• Commitment to cultural humility, inclusive practice, and working respectfully with clients from diverse backgrounds and identities.
• Openness to supervision, feedback, and ongoing professional development, including participation in training and case consultation.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills to balance client work, supervision, and academic or licensure requirements.
• Eligibility for internship placement in Ohio and intention to pursue appropriate licensure (e.g., LPC, LSW, MFT) is preferred.
