Role Description The Remote Sensing Technologist internship is an on-site role based in Colorado, United States. Interns will support the development and application of remote sensing workflows for mineral exploration, including processing and interpreting satellite and aerial imagery, and integrating datasets with geophysical and geochemical information. Day-to-day tasks may include data acquisition, image preprocessing, feature extraction, map production, and documentation of methods for educational and professional use. The role involves collaborating with geoscientists to translate technical results into clear, concept-driven resources and case studies for the Mining Blueprint platform. Interns are expected to maintain organized project files, follow established protocols, and contribute to continuous improvement of remote sensing tools and workflows.
Qualifications
• Foundational knowledge in geoscience disciplines such as mineral exploration, geophysics, geochemistry, or mining engineering, supported by relevant coursework or project experience.
• Experience or strong interest in remote sensing and spatial data, including basic familiarity with satellite or aerial imagery and geospatial concepts.
• Proficiency with GIS or mapping software (e.g., QGIS, ArcGIS) and comfort working with spatial datasets.
• Ability to analyze technical information and document workflows clearly for educational or professional audiences.
• Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and capacity to follow established data-processing protocols.
• Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate with interdisciplinary geoscience teams in an on-site environment.
• Currently enrolled in or recently completed a degree program in geology, geophysics, geoinformatics, environmental science, mining engineering, or a related field.
• Interest in a career in the mining industry and willingness to learn new tools, methods, and technologies related to remote sensing and geoscience.
