James Bernsen


 

Biography

 

James Bernsen has served in the United States Navy for 20 years and is currently a lieutentant commander in the Navy Reserve. He is a veteran of Iraq and Afghanistan. On the civilian side, he has worked in journalism, public relations and public policy at the local, state and federal levels. 
He has bachelors degrees in journalism and German from Texas A&M University and a masters in history from Texas State University. He is a graduate with distinction of the US Naval War College and has also studied at the Eberhard-Karls University in Tübingen, Germany. 
His first book, "The Lost War for Texas: Mexican Rebels, American Burrites and the Texas Revolution of 1811" was published in 2024 by Texas A&M University Press, part of the Vistas Series sponsored by Texas A&M-San Antonio.
