Valerie Hernandez serves as a STEM Coordinator for Driving Possibilities, a collaborative partnership among Texas A&M University San Antonio, Institutue for School and Community Partnerships, Toyota USA Foundation, East Central Independent School District, and United Way of San Antonio and Bexar Country. In this role, she supports with educators and community partners to strengthen STEM pathways and connect learning to real-world applications.
Ms. Hernandez brings extensive experience in science education, curriculum development, and instructional leadership. She previously served as a K-12 Science Instructional and Implementation Specialist, where she led professional development, coached teachers, and developed curriculum and assessments to support high-quality science instruction. Her work has focused on buidling teacher learning experiences. With 20 years of experience in education, she has taught secondary science across multiple school districts in the San Antonio area and has also served as an Adjunct Instructor at Alamo Colleges.
Ms. Hernandez earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a Master of Science in Biology with a concentration in Neurobiology from the University of Texas at San Antonio. She is currently a doctoral student at the University of the Incarnate Word, concentrating in Organizational Leadership.
Ms. Hernandez is committed to expanding access to meaningful STEM opportunites, supporting educators, and developing sustainable systems that connect K-12 education to college, career, and real-world opportunities.
