Lynda Cavazos

Dr. Lynda Cavazos earned her Ph.D in Education with a concentration in Organizational Leadership from the University of the Incarnate Word. With her extensive background of over 25 years as an educator, she has expertise in areas of bilingual education, early childhood instruction, curriculum instruction, and teacher coaching/mentoring. For the San Antonio Archdiocese Catholic Schools, she is a contractor/consultant as a teacher mentor/coach providing instructional support for teachers. In serving the community of San Antonio, Dr. Cavazos was a board member of the Inman Christian Childcare Center. As a board member, she provided her expertise and leadership in early childhood for the Inman Christian Childcare Center.

She is an analytical and conceptual thinker, which has helped her in early childhood curriculum writing. One of her writing projects was writing an early literacy curriculum for migrant children in South Texas.  The curriculum provided literacy tips for parents to help teach their children literacy skills and early literacy best practices for teachers.  Her interest in writing has led to co-authoring publications in:

  • World of Federation of Associations of Teacher Education
  • The American Journal of Pharmaceutical Education
  • The National Association of Bilingual Education
  • The Texas Association of Bilingual Education Journal
  • The Journal of Interdisciplinary Education
  • The Young Children Special Edition
  •
  • Her honors and awards are Teacher of the Year, The Teacher to Honor Award from the University of Texas-San Antonio’s BESO (Bilingual Educators Student Organization), and the Norma Ziegler Higher Education Professional of the Year Award from SAAEYC (San Antonio Association for the Education of Young Children).  The quote from Gabrielle Bernstein is a mantra for Dr. Cavazos, “allow your passion to become your purpose, and it will become your profession.”
