Megan Harrison (based in San Antonio, TX) creates layered, large-scale mixed media works that blend geology and personal history. Her process-intensive paintings mimic natural forms - like sediment, stone, and water - conveying a sense of timeless place and awe through meticulous surface-building. Harrison’s work is a meditation on impermanence and transformation, echoing the slow rhythms of the land and unfolding like a terrain shaped by both natural processes and lived experience – where layered textures emulate the way memories settle, blur, and resurface over time. Harrison obtained an MFA from the University of Texas at San Antonio, TX, and a BFA from Metropolitan State University of Denver, Denver, CO. Harrison’s work has been featured in several solo and group exhibitions nationally and internationally. Notable institutions include: The Contemporary at Blue Star, San Antonio, TX; the McNay Art Museum, San Antonio, TX; Sala Díaz, San Antonio, TX, and Texas A&M International University Gallery in Laredo, TX. Exhibitions of her work also extended to cities such as Boston, MA; Denver, CO; Las Cruces, NM; Seattle, WA; Houston, TX and internationally in Las Palmas, Spain, and Berlin, Germany. Harrison’s work can also be found in private and public collections such as: George Bush Intercontinental Airport, Houston, TX; San Antonio City Hall, San Antonio, TX; and Metropolitan State University of Denver, Denver, CO. She has participated in several prestigious artist residencies, including the Künstlerhaus Bethanien, Berlin, Germany, and Residencia Nautilus, Lanzarote, Spain, as well as residencies in Texas, Vermont and Colorado. Her work and practice have been featured in publications such as: Glasstire, ArtDaily, Arts and Culture Texas Magazine, The San Antonio Current, and Be Magazine.
