Myriam Jimena Guerra is an associate professor in the Department of Bilingual and ESL Education, College of Education and Human Development at Texas A&M University-San Antonio. She completed her Ph. D. (2015) at the University of Texas at San Antonio in the Bicultural/ Bilingual Program in Culture, Literacy, and Language. Her dissertation titled Usando Nuestros Recursos: Biliteracy Practices of Young Latino Bilingual Learners Inside and Outside School used a qualitative research approach to account for the literacies of young bilingual students. After earning her M.A. in Bilingual Education (2005) she taught elementary school for 10 years at local public schools in San Antonio. She has presented regularly at international, national, and regional conferences. She is published her work in journals and authored and co-authored book chapters. Her education interest focus on biliteracy and bilingualism in multiple contexts (Home/ School), family literacies, Latinx children’s literature, bilingual education, dual language programs, and culturally sustaining pedagogies.
