Dr. Eric J. López is a Professor at Texas A&M University-San Antonio (A&M-SA). Born and raised in the south side of San Antonio, Texas, Dr. López has over 22 years of higher education experience. Dr. López received his Ph.D. and Ed.S. in School Psychology at the University of Iowa and his B.A. in History at Texas A&M University. He worked as a Bilingual School Psychologist in the Las Cruces Public Schools, before joining the faculty at New Mexico State University (NMSU). Dr. López earned the rank of Associate Professor with Tenure and Full Professor, and was the Department Head for the Special Education/Communication Disorders Department and was the Stan Fulton Chair for the Improvement of Border and Rural Schools while at NMSU. While at A&M-SA, Dr. López served as Dean of the College of Education & Human Development and Director of Academic Partnerships. Dr. López was selected for the American Council on Education (ACE) Fellowship in 2016-2017, completing his Fellowship year at Montana State University in Bozeman, MT. He is currently Co-PI of the TU CASA (Transition university for career advancement and successful adulthood) Grant/Program at A&M-SA. His research interests include multicultural health and educational assessment, consultation and intervention.
