Dr. Lizbett Tinoco is an Associate Professor of English and Director of Writing Across the Curriculum at Texas A&M University-San Antonio. She earned her Ph.D. in Rhetoric and Composition from the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP). She completed her M.A. in English from California State University, Bakersfield and her B.A. in English from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). Her research focuses on writing program administration, two-year college writing studies, and antiracist writing assessment. She is currently co-editing a book on feedback titled, Reconceptualizing Response: Using Instructor Feedback to Promote Equity and Linguistic Justice in the Writing Classroom, that will be published by University Press of Colorado. 

Dr. Tinoco is co-editor for the Journal of Writing Assessment. Her publications appear in Community College Journal of Research and Practice, Journal of Writing Assessment, Teaching English in the Two-Year College, Composition Forum, and various other journals and edited collections. She has presented her research at national and international conferences including the Conference on College Composition and Communication, the National Council of Teachers of English, the Council of Writing Program Administrators, and the International Writing Centers Association. Dr. Tinoco was awarded the 2018 Council of Writing Program Administrators Award for Graduate Writing in WPA Studies for her work on writing program administration at community colleges. As a Latina and first-generation college graduate, Dr. Tinoco is committed to building equitable and sustainable practices in writing pedagogy, research, program development, and community engagement. When taking a break from academic work, Dr. Tinoco enjoys traveling, watching college football, spending time with her dog, and visiting her family in California.
