Billy Kiser received his Ph.D. in 2016 from Arizona State University and is currently associate professor and department chair at Texas A&M University-San Antonio. A specialist on the nineteenth-century U.S.-Mexico borderlands, he is the author of five books and numerous articles. He teaches classes on the Civil War and Reconstruction, the American West, Native American history, U.S. foreign policy, and research methods. His current book project involves scalp warfare in the North American borderlands spanning the 1600s through the 1800s, and is under contract to be published by Yale University Press.
