Merritt Rehn DeBraal


Dr. Merritt Rehn-DeBraal is an Instructional Associate Professor of Philosophy and coordinator for the philosophy program. She was hired in 2018 as the universitys first full-time faculty member in philosophy. Dr. Rehn-DeBraal specializes in social and political philosophy, feminist philosophy, and philosophies of sexual violence. Her current research focuses on pedagogy and curiosity, and she has presented her work on pedagogy at Teaching Hubs for the Central, Pacific, and Eastern Divsions of the American Philosophical Association. She has also written on teaching for the blog of the American Philosophical Association.

In addition, Dr. Rehn-DeBraal has previously served as co-coordinator of the Minor in Womens and Gender Studies, and she co-developed the universitys first Intro to Womens and Gender Studies course.
