K.C. Kalmbach, PhD, is an associate professor of psychology and licensed clinical psychologist (forensic).

Over the past two decades, she has held positions as a administrator, clinician, consultant, and educator. Before joining the faculty at Texas A&M University-San Antonio, Dr. Kalmbach worked with colleagues to help build the first juvenile offender mental health court in Houston, Texas.  Prior to this, as faculty at California State University-Los Angeles, she conducted community needs assessments in high risk neighborhoods for the Los Angeles Mayor’s Office of Gang Reduction/Youth Development (GRYD). Before entering academia, Dr. Kalmbach served as director of the Texas Regional Center for Policing Innovation, a federally funded training institute tasked with providing progressive training for community stakeholders and justice system personnel throughout the State of Texas. Currently, in addition to teaching and research, she provides clinical consulting services to a range of agencies and organizations. Based on her extensive experience working with military members, and to support a growing military-connected student population, Dr. Kalmbach created a comprehensive Military Cultural Competence professional development course for faculty and staff. Dr. Kalmbach’s practice, research, and publications to date have centered on ethico-legal and mental health issues in criminal justice, law enforcement and military populations.
