Courtney earned her Master of Arts at the University of North Texas in 2008 with a focus in interpersonal communication. During her graduate coursework and teaching assistant position, she taught core speech course recitations as well as being an active member of COGS (Communication Organization of Graduate Students), a student-run organization of graduate students in the Department of Communication Studies (communication.unt.edu, 2019). Upon graduating from the university, Courtney earned teaching positions across the DFW area at several local community colleges and Texas Womens University. Later on in her teaching career, Courtney earned the title of digital online and interactive telecommunications instructor for speech communications at Alabama A & M University and Bladen Community College. Whether teaching in the classroom or in online format, Courtney has always embraced that communications in any format has value to ones self-efficacy as well as to the community in which we hope to empower.
Courtney is thrilled to call Texas home again after being away in North Carolina for five years due to her husbands military career. Although she is a native to the Dallas/Fort Worth area, San Antonio is now her forever home that she shares with her husband, their four children and a pet fish named Guy II.
