Biography

Prior to joining Texas A&M University-San Antonio, I was an ORAU senior fellow at the Army Research Laboratory, Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland.  I have held faculty positions.  I was an associate professor at TOBB University of Economics and Technology, Ankara, Turkey.  I was an adjunct professor at Wayne State University, Detroit, Michigan, in the Department of Mathematics.  I was an assistant professor at Louisiana State University (LSU) in the Department of Mathematics and in the Center for Computation & Technology.  After I left LSU, I continued to be a visiting assistant professor.  My research has been funded by National Science Foundation, European Commission Marie Curie Program, and Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey.

I held two postdoctoral positions. My first postdoc was at California Institute of Technology in the Department of Computing + Mathematical Sciences in the area of computer graphics with a focus on digital geometry processing in the Multi-Res Modeling Group.  My second postdoc was at The University of Texas at Austin in the The Institute for Computational Engineering and Sciences in the area of geosciences with a focus on robust preconditioning in The Computational Hydraulics Group and The Center for Subsurface Modeling.

I received my Ph.D. degree in Mathematics from University of California, San Diego. I received my M.S. degree in Mathematics from University of California, Irvine.  I received a double major B.S. degree in Mathematics and a B.S. degree in Science Education, Mathematics Teaching from Middle East Technical University, Ankara, Turkey.
